Just as AR can be used to visualize the future in design and urban planning, the technology can be used to recreate past historical buildings and environments. AHO and IFE have demonstrated this on several occasions, most recently in Oslo in October 2006 recreating the old restaurant Skansen at the Akershus Fortress, as an official demonstration in connection with the Oslo Architects Association’s 100 year celebration.
The city government commissioner for urban planning (byrådsleder for byutvikling) in Oslo, Merete Agerbak-Jensen, joined our demonstration of AR in urban planning outside Østbanehallen in Oslo November 6. 2006. AHO and IFE managed to show 3 alternative planned buildings in Bjørvika.

As part of a upcoming program on virtual reality, the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) made an interview with ar-lab in front of the new opera building in Oslo.
The company Augmented Reality Laboratory Norway AS (ar-lab) was formally established in Halden November 29. The founding institutions are The Oslo School of Architecture and Design, Institute for energy technology and Campus Kjeller. See more »
